he was likely filing his nails because he couldn't play rhythm. Some of blues player that are considered greats can't play rhythm.
He was extremely hard on the guys in his band. Demanded perfection.
Once, he and Buddy Guy were jamming onstage and Albert turned his back to him each time he started to play. When asked why he did it, he said he didn't want Buddy to steal his stuff.
He was either delusional or a real jackass to think that. Probably both.
Then again, SRV copied his licks, so that could have made him think everyone would.
