The perception of the company

Stubborn to a fault most of the time.

Are you satisfied?

Yes. Everything they do is super high quality and they have the same focus as before, creating games that are high-quality, bug free, fun and don't take themselves too seriously.

Do you feel they are on the right track?

I'd wait for the NX announcement to say yes. The early quotes have been puzzling.

Or do they still have a ways to go before they're once again basking in the gaming spotlight like the 64 days?

They will probably never hit these heights again unless the video game market crashes. If that happens, Nintendo will be one of the few left standing.

I think Nintendo would be the only major developer left standing. Microsoft and Sony would drop their consoles in a heartbeat so the only real options for 3rd party game developers would be either PC or Nintendo. And since the console market is so huge, they will have no choice but to develop some games for the Nintendo console.

This right here is exactly why Nintendo will always be relevant. Their exclusives are top notch. Sure they released the Wii-U a little earlier than they should have given the amount of games that were available for it on launch, but people are falling all over themselves to get the consoles and arguably the biggest release on the entire platform isn't even set to release this year (Zelda).
