You wouldn't lock Brek in over Bradley, Jozy and Bedoya?
Cmon bro.

Beyond the other 2, he's as close to a lock as anyone wouldn't you say?
As I read that, it really isn't saying all that much under the current gaffer.

Doug Mcintyre for ESPN FC, which I know isn't highly regarded around here, named Shea his first team LB in an updated depth chart minutes ago.
Edit: Okay, Mcintyre also listed Chandler as the no. 1 RB lol. So I'm gonna take this with a grain of salt.

Bedoya has been one of our 3 or 4 best players over the last year and a half or so.

I disagree.

Their USMNT coverage is so bad.
ETA I'll be more specific. The writers they have covering the USMNT are bad. Just the dot com folks, not the entire network.

I may have overstated it. 5 to 6 best players is probably more like it. He was very good yesterday.

When Bedoya is playing in his natural position he's definitely top 5. You can't count the Denmark game against him because he's not a defensive mid.

I don't watch much outside the premier league, but I can't think of another USMNT player who has played better outside of the MLS.
I guess Boyd and Johannsson, but different positions, and Ligue 1 is more competitive.
ETA: Sorry, I'm thinking for club for some reason. I re read it and would agree he's not top 3 while playing for USMNT.

I would take the performances of Dempsey, Altidore, Bradley, Jones, Howard, Beasley, Besler, Beckerman ahead of Bedoya over the last year and a half. Donovan's 2013 GC performances alone may put him in that group as well.
However, it seems as though your opinion has some support, judging by the upvotes. So I am curious to hear what people think he does that's particularly special or valuable.
I am not anti-Bedoya by any means. I think he is a solid, reliable type of player. I feel he has good positional awareness and an intense work ethic. He has a strong motor and never ceases to stop working. I think Klinsmann likes his willingness to defend and contribute to team shape. That being said, I also feel that he lacks pace as a winger and has limited technical ability. He excels in games against weaker sides but can spend a good bit of time chasing the game against better opposition. In those games, he sort of gets lost and has a hard time getting on the ball. His instinct is then to drop and defend. I would like to see someone break through the ranks who can do more in terms of getting forward and adding some possession and flair to the midfield. Bedoya only has 2 goals and 3 assists in 39 international appearances. For a winger, not exactly deadly.
ETA: Sorry to the OP

I always seen him as playing the same position as Dempsey. He will be a good replacement for Dempsey minus the finishing, but willing to work off the ball and on defense.
He plays more of the Second Striker role for Nantes, or did the limited games I've watched.

I forget he's 27.
But all the guy you mentioned are kind of the generational guys, one ahead of him other than Altidore and Bradley.
I was referring to group that has been plugged and played over the last year or so. Not all the guys who are locks.
Out of those, Bedoya has been solid IMO and will be the most likely lock of the lot.
