I don't understand the concept of not cleaning a gun after shooting it, even if after only 50-100 rounds on a range day.
I was raised to treat my firearms as collectors items even though they weren't collectibles. They were cleaned after every outing immediately upon getting home from the range/hunt and I still do that till this day.
i dont understand the concept of cleaning them every time. I was raised to treat my guns as tools.

Every gun is a collectable for the next generation. I still remember my grandfather teaching me to clean a rifle.

Difference in people who treat their tools with care and count on them to function reliably for decades vs those that don't. Carbon fouling is abrasive, why anyone wouldn't keep it to a minimum doesn't make sense.

By this logic, I suppose you never change the oil in your truck? Your truck is a tool, no? Not something that should be maintained for peak performance right?

Me too, but I was raised to keep my tools clean.
Every shooting session I have I clean them and as needed every so often for good measure (keep moisture off).
