in the end it even worked out, Hale hits one thru the hole that should have won the game.


Sure, I think he could have bunted too. I don't think it is 1000% bunt though. Ive seen coaches across all levels make similar calls. But i honestly don't think it was driven by ego.

This was not a runner at 2B only. We had runners at first and second, the double play was a possibility. You bunt to move the winning run to 3B, where most contact can score the run, AND to stay out of the double play.

Are you saying that Paul Mainieri was sleeping in the dugout during 2013 and doesn't remember the 17 double plays that a .370 career hitter Raph Rhymes hit into? Deichman doesn't even have one single college hit. Not one. He had two previous college at bats before the 8th inning of that game. GT23 is right, CPM wanted to tell everyone how he had a feeling that Deichman was going to get his first career hit in walkoff fashion on a SEC Friday night.
