Sounds like the young boy is a hero.
i hope he doesn't blame himself for the mother slipping away. I know it will probably be something he never forgets.

Don't know the rescue guy, but saw this earlier on FB. He lost his shotgun when his boat capsized and there is a gofund me setup. First gofund me that I approve of.

I know the kid through bass tournaments out there. Don't know him personally, but younger friends that know him well always talk about him being a nice kid. Kudos to him for not only being at the right place at the right time, but doing something when it was needed.
I have to think the people fishing weren't familiar with the sill. At its height right now, there's really no reason to get that close to it without planning to jump it.
