I'm not making any of the same sweeping broad statements that have been made in this thread, but I will say that K-Robs situational hitting this year has been dismal. Alot of his AB's this year have come in situations where his primary job should be to move runners up and he simply does not do that. He has trouble getting himself into a good hitters count and can start eliminating offspeed pitchers and start looking fastball.

As for Pap, yes, we haven't seen much of the advertised power yet, but he does a good job of recognizing breaking balls early and laying off. He makes a lot of contact and will be great in the future, but right now, there's just no spot for him in the regular lineup

Also, they're 2 completely different types of hitters and shouldn't be compared head to head.

My argument would be why not put Byrd in after Fraley's injury with a righty on the mound

I would agree.

He should have bunted in one of his ABs today. Not his fault.

That's been the troubling part of this year. Last year, he was doing the opposite. Working a pitcher really well. He's taken a step back in this regard.

Eh... I wouldn't say either of those first two. And it's not just that there isn't a spot for him. He looked lost catching Lange early and during some of his ABs.

Do not get me wrong about Pap. I'm a big fan of his. I thought he would have won the job by now after watching fall ball. He looked really far ahead of Sciv in some of those games. But I was wrong about both players. Happily wrong about Sciv!
