In which country(ies) are you going to rent and operate the rental car?
There are certain countries excluded from Credit Card rental car protections.
I now video my walk-around with the rental car agent when I pick-up a rental car in foriegn countries. I usually pick up at least some offered coverage when I rent in a foreign country.

Belgium, Germany, and going to France....
called Chase and they said I am covered because I put the rental on my card.
There is also another co.pay I can buy full coverage for overses rentals for 250 bucks, this was recommended by my insurance agent.
