Cable / Satellite TV Question

So I have Cox...paying $90 a month for HD DVR package...ESPN package. The DVR doesn't work half the time and I haven't gotten much help when I call in to try and fix my technical issue.
My question is...who has experience shopping for cable TV options? Direct TV, Dish Network, etc. Can I get a package that is comparable for less?
I'll hang up and listen.

I had Diect TV at my camp and never had any issues. The one thing you have to watch is their sign up promos. After a few months, everything goes up automatically and you are going to pay that rate for 2 years. Still competitive but some people think they are paying $49 per month then when it goes to $98 they think they were screwed.
I have Cox at my office and u-Verse at home.

Switched from cox to directv about 1.5 years ago. Better customer service, more channels, and cheaper. Like others have said, look for sign up promos especially at places like costco and sams.
Directv basically offers an intro rate for 12 months of a 24 month contract. Your bill will obviously go up but it's cheaper than cox averaged over 24 months. Let me know if you want to switch as I can give you a referral for $10 more off your first 10 months.

Had the same experience with cox. Researched it a lot. Had the dish installed this weekend. The guy who installed it was absolutely top notch. So far I'm pleased and I'm saving 25/mo to boot.
