My mom was Catholic. Dad Baptist.
The Catholic church refused to recognize my Mom's marriage to my Dad, so she said frick it and converted to Baptist.
They stayed married for like 40 years.

Dated a girl in high school that was nondenominational, while I am Catholic. I went to her place a time or two, and I also went to some megachurches while at LSU. Every time I went to one of those I always felt empty, and I guess that is because I have a strong devotion to the Eucharist.
As a Catholic, you are called to raise your children in the faith.
On a side note, it is faith and works for Catholics, not just works by themselves. It is also more than just faith alone, as Protestants tend to follow this way.
