Under Jones, LSU runs a fast-paced style where players have freedom to make plays. While it is often fodder for criticism from Tigers fans, it's something that appeals to players. A year from now when Tim Quarterman, Jalyn Patterson, Keith Hornsby and Josh Gray are all a year older and ostensibly wiser, the notion of Newman sliding in and running side-by-side with any of those guards is enticing.

"Having other ball-handlers on the court takes a lot of pressure off of everybody and makes it fun to play," Newman said. "That's my kind of game. I like to play fee and go out there and make game-changing plays."
