Anyone pick this up? I'm curious if the pro controllers work well with it, or is it made for the wii motes...

The fact that you all move at the same time instantly turns me off to it. The fun part about the original games (1-3) is that you had to use strategy and a bit of good luck to win. When you won, you felt great satisfaction like you did something and beat out whoever you were playing. Now it's just video game socialism.

It's not good unless you're young.

I just got it, but haven't had a chance to play it just yet. Reviews are very mixed, but from what I've read it's the same as it ever was...by yourself it's meh, but it's fun to play with kids and/or have a bunch of friends come over to play while drunk/high.

Haven't experienced the cart dynamic. Haven't really played it since the N64. So I'm sure it's different, but I feel like people blow it out of proportion because it doesn't conform with their nostalgia. Let's be honest, Mario Party always relied on a shite ton of chance and luck. Hell, you could be in 1st all game, then BAM, the person in last steals a star from you on the last turn and gets a bonus star for landing on most question marks (complete luck) and they win. It was never a "fair" game where the best player always wins. That's what made it so fun.

And I don't think strategy is completely out of it...from what I've read there's still ways you can sabotage other people with different kinds of dice, etc. Plus I think this speeds games up, so they don't end up taking 2+ hours to play with 4 people.
