I see both sides. The mother should have called the school first instead of acting unilaterally and shoving something down people's throats.

Why didn't she pursue some guidance on this on the front end before doing all this work on the back end to force people to get her way?

Bad parenting truth be told. Which sucks because the kid needs great parenting. Just my $0.02.

The parent who complained was a douche as well, but the entire situation was avoidable with a little due diligence.

What? It's a piece of clothing.

If it's sold in a store and isn't profane he should be fine.
I lettered all 4 years in HS and never even got a jacket. Why? Because I don't give a shite.

If someone with downs plays a sport and gets excited about the idea of a letter on his jacket then let him wear it. The kids in this school need to stand up for their classmate.
