leave it to an Aggie to have a realistic grasp on the current budget environment of LSU.

Yes it is thanks to Bobby Jindal. LSU took severe budget cuts 6-7 years ago. LSU facility services basically can only cut grass or so it seems. LSU trimmed a lot then and now there's not much left to cut.
Will LSU close? No, but LSU is struggling just to maintain what they have meanwhile many schools are growing and building. I'm afraid to see what the cuts would do.
Bottom line...the governor has a 16% approval rating. I'm shocked it's that high. His fiscal policies and planning have created this mess while all of Louisiana suffers.

The proposed budget cuts are real, but the worst case scenarios that these articles keep floating are not. LSU is just trying to drum up public support by using scare tactics to keep Jindal's budget from passing. Even if the worst case scenario did happen they would close all the satellite campuses first.
The university would also go private before it shut down?

These doom and gloom stories always get circulated before and during the legislative session. That way they have you expecting the absolute worst. Then when they cut and arm and a leg off you are overjoyed it wasn't your head too.
