Yep...I need to correct my original post...when the wind and tide oppose one another it gets bad. Destin pass is pretty narrow at the mouth and can have a lot of water flowing out or in - a lot of current.
I have heard experienced Florida captains compare it (Destin Pass) to the Jupiter inlet and that is saying something.
As to the OP, it is rare that it gets like that though. I mention it only for your situational awareness.
Boat go in and out of it daily by the scores. I mention it only because I felt I should.

Yep, but as a professional captain with tons of experience entering Destin and Jupiter, I've never had a problem when watching the weather/tides.
It was a great post to be aware of that fact, though.
