What's your solution exactly?

I am like most people. Let them go pro right out of high school if that is what they want to do. Let the NBA deal with the bad draft picks and the head cases. Let the players blow through what money they get before they are 30, and let them come wash my car, or cut my grass when they are run out of the league and broke. They can also dig my ditch.... Or hold the "slow" sign in the road when doing road contruction.

Well, I'm pretty sure the NBA decided they'd rather not do that. Sure, it was probably just marketing. How many straight out of high school players went in to the NBA with the notoriety and publicity of LeBron James? Or even remotely close to him in that regard?

Point being, this isn't an NCAA rule. These players aren't required to go to college. They could go to Europe until they're 19, but not many have decided to do that. If the NBA raises the age to 20 then more may decide to do so, but probably not much more.

I don't know how man 1-and-done basketball players return to school to finish their degrees, that number for football players and baseball players that leave early is probably higher. I think if the NBA made the rule 21 or 3 years from high school like the NFL and MLB then basketball graduation numbers would go up.

As it is, the vast majority of college basketball players are staying 4-5 years and graduating.
