as well as it penalizes bucs in the compensation chart for signing johnson that may have offset any other loser they lost. System is kind of a joke, it rewards incompetent teams who can't resign their players and penalizes those who can.

Agreed. It is an antiquated system that needs to go away. It rewards teams for making financial decisions. It is not as much for "losing a key FA" which was the intent, but moreso decisions made for financial reasons. Why should a team be rewarded for allowing a player to leave because they did not want to pay them?
