You'd have to be an idiot to move to Texas from California.
You gotta do what you gotta do. Not everybody can hack it in California so when your run-of-the-mill job relocates from Corona to Plano you have to decide whether or not to settle for mediocrity so that you can get a big house and your kids can go to a decent, safe school. There's pros and cons to just about every place in the country.
I think a lot of people from California convince themselves that Austin is a lot like northern California and less like the rest of Texas so they move there and are likely disappointed. Then, they start trying to make it more like California. I'm not hating on them. They're just doing what they think is best.

Until their practice of voting for the same economic and tax policies that are one reason why they left California actually start affecting elections?
Just because they're moving doesn't mean their politics stays in California.
