Both bands my be great musically, but their lyrics leave a lot to be desired. Below are just 3 songs about pedophilia. Never was really into Jethro Tull so don't know about others by them but the 2 songs listed below by Steely Dan are just 2 of several.

true, but I believe a lot of their stuff was tongue n cheek ....
to their credit, they wrote about things most wouldn't talk about either

The lyrics to Aqualung are a criticism of the plight of the homeless and the government's turning a blind eye to the problem. Most of the rest of the album takes a big shot at the church of England. It is very much a socially conscious effort.
