how is this not racist again?

replace black with white...is it racist now?

You are obtuse. You have no idea what it means to be a minority. Support systems can help.....maybe not renaming buildings, but it can be hard feeling different from practically everyone around you. But..you will never know, because you're too afraid to get out of your comfort zone.

On the contrary...if I went to Berkley I can assure you I would be a whole hell of a lot more out of place than these folks perceive they are

It's the same shite that comes out over and over. "You don't know what it's like.. you have no idea.. you don't know be cause you 're not a minority" etc.

I am a white male...we are pretty much the minority now. All other classes are protected but us. Keep fighting the fight and demanding fairness and equality all while not really wanting fairness and equality

I'm okay with minority programs. And that lady is Tupac's mama in case y'all didn't know.
She's rather famous, or infamous.

eta: nm. She's his godmother. His mama is Afeni Shakur and was also wanted by Feds for some shite years ago.

How are "minorities" different besides color? Also, these students likely were given admittance to the University based on race over others to begin with. How about appreciate that they go to one of the best fricking Universities in the world to begin with. If they thought it was anti-skin color alone, then maybe they should have picked another university. I can't even begin to stress how much it has nothing to do with skin color. Skin color does not prevent you from being moral, hard working, or intelligent. If you believe if it does, then you're only being racist against yourself. Stop thinking you are at a disadvantage. I can say as a white American I want fairness for everyone, and prosperity for everyone, but the racism that created the divides to begin with was not created by anyone alive today, so lets stop blaming each other, because none of us are responsible. I can personally tell you I've never taken any fricking pride in any building named after a white person. Have you honestly ever looked at the name of a building and thought....oh shite, im so motivated now! Besides, how many things are Martin Luther King Jr. named? At this point, it doesnt matter, its all childish games, because the heart of the issue isn't in the physical, its in the attitude and mental approach of everyone involved on all sides.

Talk to me than. I do know what its like to go to school and live where I was a minority.

Both colleges I have been to, I have been a minority, would it then be racist if a place for only white people to meet? Of course it would.

ETA: How can someone bitch about a place they CHOSE to go to?? If they got in UC Berkeley, I'm sure there are quite a few of other schools they could have CHOSEN to go to.

Unless someone is being ridiculed for the color of his/her skin, than all bitching needs to stop

If that's the case, why not just go to an HBC?

Its only as hard as you make it, if you want to fit in with "practically everyone around you" then act like the majority, don't act in different ways and expect to not be looked at differently, learn to adapt. - When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

Weird that Asian and Indian/Pakistani students are a minority yet you never hear about them bitching like the world owes them something.

My entire life I've lived in a city over 50% African American, with a large Latino American sector. Us Euro-Americans are the minority here.
