Depends he had a very short sentence for taking someones life, maybe his parole was longer than normal to go with his sentence?

Very possible, suicide is a sickness thats hard to get rid of.

Serving 26 years on a capital murder charge is not justice enough. No amount of time in prison can negate the loss of life
