I am always torn about these press releases by the police. It's one thing to be accused of embezzlement or even murder, this is a whole different ball game. It wouldn't matter a bit how entirely innocent you happened to be, once this is put out on the internet your life is over.

Doesn't look like it applies here but I have seen cases where an angry spouse/girlfriend will drum up accusations to screw a guy over when there is zero truth to it. It doesn't matter if she confesses and goes to jail, no way I would let the guy come around any minor for which I had responsibility.

This is exactly why defamation lawsuits exist.

The images, the affidavit says, showed children under age 13, "with the camera clearly focused" on the genital area.

Having been an expert witness in one of these cases, this is one of the few crimes that if you get charged, you're guilty as sin.

They drop investigations pretty often that would be plain as day to most people just because the burden of proof is so high. They almost always include actual real time surveillance of your router traffic from outside your house.

Sometimes that black van really is the police.

Friend of mine-early 80's-wife accused him of molesting 2 year old step daughter-front page of The Advocate-all over the news for a few days, a week later on the last page of the metro section a one paragraph retraction as the sheriff finally got her to admit she was lying. He grew up here and his dad was a judge here and he left BR then and has never come back. Not even to visit. People still think he did it.

Now this wife beat off is creepy and guilty though.
