An alumnus of both LSU (mechanical engineering) & Harvard (MBA) where he served as student body president at both LSU & Harvard.

The LSU Foundation will greatly improve under his leadership. The new HQ held their ceremonial ground breaking a few weeks ago, btw.

quote:

Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Stephen Moret will take over as president and CEO of the LSU Foundation in May. The foundation announced his selection earlier today, capping a months-long national search to fill the position. Moret will oversee fundraising and philanthropic activities for all campuses in the LSU system.

quote:

Moret comes to the position after seven years at LED, where he is widely credited with attracting more than $62 billion in investment and about 91,000 new jobs to the state. In a statement, Gov. Bobby Jindal, who appointed Moret to LED in January 2008, credits him with helping to transform LED into one of the nation’s most respected state economic development agencies.

quote:

Examples of LED’s wins under Moret’s leadership include landing major software/IT centers of IBM, CSC, GE Capital and CGI; recruiting Bell Helicopter’s Jet Ranger X manufacturing facility; attracting Benteler’s steel/pipe mill; and securing ConAgra’s sweet potato processing facility, which leverages research developed at the LSU AgCenter.

That's great! I'm glad they're finally getting their own headquarters.

The Jindalistas will find places to land, as he eases into his run for greater glory. Public teats, think tanks and other political jobs, mostly. Let's hope Moret can reverse some of the damage done to LSU under Jindal's reign.

He was CEO of Baton Rouge Area Chamber from 2004-2008, and head of Louisiana Economic Development from 2008-present. Not saying it's a bad hire, but the dude has been bouncing from teat to teat for awhile now.

Love or hate Jindal....Moret is not a bad hire for this role at all. We could do much, much worse.

I'd love to hear what his goals and ideas for LSU are going forward. Seems like a great hire to me

Why would LSU hire a new president? The only hire they should be looking for is a football coach!!

Moret is a top notch guy with a top notch record of success. I wish him luck in this endeavor. No doubt in my mind he will do well.
