I was chastised in the game thread for saying that. That would have been the right choice and game over. Just like fouling fatass bowers would have been game over. Lots of big money makers going brain dead at crunch time.

Eta: I left Les out because it was a given that he's just brain dead all the time.

The third baseman was on the grass and likely looking for it. Laird has a much better chance at punching on through than getting the squeeze down. Besides, Zardon does not run well at all.
