Head-to-head is way down the list of things the committee considers. So is conference finish. It's about your record against RPI teams, strength of schedule, etc.
Head-to-head is essentially a tiebreaker used if all other things are equal. I think RPI is even used not to rank where you fall among teams but as a way to evaluate who you've played. In other words, LSU's RPI of whatever (say 50) is not to say LSU is 50, but it's to say Texas A&M has 2 wins against the top 50 (LSU is in the top 50).
Not saying that's the way it should be, but rather the way it is. Last I checked, Lunardi had LSU above Ole Miss in the pecking order BEFORE Ole Miss' lost yesterday.
And the head-to-head irrelevance will work in LSU's favor regarding Texas A&M. Tigers will probably get in before Aggies despite the two losses because the Aggies haven't beaten anyone with a higher RPI than LSU.
