Aren't aircraft assigned to specific units? It seems like eventually that helo will need to find its way back to the 244th.
I know when I worked in refineries, if there were a couple of injuries, or even near misses, within a day or three, there would be a refinery wide "safety stand down". Maybe the LA ANG does the same thing. Maybe the 2nd crew was too emotionally distraught to fly. Maybe the 2nd crew was somehow involved in the accident. I don't know.
