Sadly, for where we are now, I think this was the right move.
We signed a ton of high priced free agents that didn't pan out, and went full derp mode in the draft (especially last year). Bringing in new scouts and such will hopefully lead to better players and us drafting those who we think can play now, and not fun projects that might develop down the line.
Guess we will see. We better not package these first rounders for one player. I want to capable starters out of these picks, and I'm hoping it'll be a Guard and a MLB

Does anyone see the long term move that loomis just created for the NFC. The Seahawks have a very young nucleus on rookie contracts and we're going to have a very hard time paying everyone. Now they have jimmys bloated contract to further complicate that. Not to mention that jimmy disappears in cold weather. Hill played great when given the opportunity last year. All in all I think this was a great trade.

As long as you have a great QB, WRs/TEs are replaceable. New England just won the Super Bowl with avg. to good WRs; Green Bay's WRs aren't bad, but they aren't all-timers either. SF was in the NFC championship game 3 years in a row without anything special at WR. Hell, just look at the Saints 2006 receiving corps. Brees still put up big numbers with that bunch. Keep him upright and healthy and he'll continue to put up big numbers
Fix the OL and the offense starts to get back on track. Use draft picks and whatever money you have left to build up your defense (especially the front 7). It's tough to see a great player leave, but one great TE isn't enough to win a championship when there are other holes on your roster.
