What they said was offensive, ugly, backwards, and a ton of other adjectives. It is also protected by the constitution. If their speech occurred on any function connected to the school, the school has a right to take action. There should be a code of conduct. The company that I work for will punish an individual if they commit a crime off of the job. The question becomes, was a crime committed? Where I work, free speech has consequences. You can say it. But it will cost you your job.
