Could y'all live with this scenario he mentioned: "Pels barely miss the playoffs, but replace Monty Williams with Thibs."
Zach Lowe also talks about the Pel's playoff chances for a bit in the clip I posted.

I honestly worry about this with AD's injury history.

I'd be more worried about Jrue getting ridden into the ground than AD. Just make sure you have a deep team full of players Thibs will like.

I don't want him. Really do not. I would rather stick with Monty.

He's a much better coach than Monty, we'd probably just have to deal with a lot of these injuries.

I dunno about sticking with Monty, but I'm not sure about thibs either with the way he coaches.

Is it entirely possible that Chicago's injury issues have little to do with Thibs, or at least less than the story they're trying to feed us? Last week I heard a Chicago beat writer say management planned to use the injury card as the excuse to end a relationship that's probably been over since Rose blew out his knee the first time.
We've had worse injury luck than Chicago and Monty doesn't "run guys into the ground." People act like Luol Deng fell off a cliff, he's a #3 or #4 guy that had to step up and be a #1 guy. His points are down slightly this year, but his shooting percentages are up and this is the best PER he's posted since 2009-10 now that he doesn't have to be the #1 option. I'm not saying Thibs doesn't push hard, I just think the "Thibs Method = Horrific Injuries" is a mostly manufactured story.

Jimmy Butler was playing like almost 39 minutes a game.

He still does and leads the league in MPG by over a full minute.

We already do though...

I hate that everyone just pretends Thib's runs his players into the ground. Yes, he practices hard, but he is not the reason Derrick Rose hurt his knee twice. Monty is a players coach and we've had 4 times the injuries the Bulls have.
Jimmy Butler got his arm pinned on a pick during a game. Those type of things aren't because Thibs demands people to practice hard. It's just so close minded to me.

Michael Jordan averaged 38.3 for his entire career, and he played in an era that was much more physical. Pippen was at 38-40 MPG most of the Championship years with the Bulls. Shaq had multiple seasons of 38-40 MPG. Same with The Dream, The Admiral and Tim Duncan.
I'm not saying more rest isn't better, just that what we find extreme today was considered ordinary a few decades ago (man I'm getting old).

I'll take him over Monty anyday of the week.
Posted on 3/10/15 at 9:12 am to TigerinATL
Wow, how times have changed. People would rather Monty Williams over Thibs? Color me ridiculously confused...
Posted on 3/10/15 at 9:14 am to ShamelessPel
Oh no. I'd take thibs over Monty in a second. I just don't know if he'd be the long term answer.
Posted on 3/10/15 at 9:16 am to ShamelessPel
Exactly. What the hell are they smoking? Monty over Thibodeau??
Posted on 3/10/15 at 9:16 am to TigerinATL
If it works for the player, that's fine. I just don't think we have any 38 mpg kind of guys, except maybe Tyreke and QPon could do it physically.
Posted on 3/10/15 at 9:20 am to CocoLoco
If Monty doesn't return, whoever our next coach is needs to be the long term answer.

Yeah, you do need to make sure you have plenty of players he'll want to use. Just look at the front court minutes this year
Pau 34.6
Noah 30.9
Gibson 28.1
Mirotic 18.4
I'm really surprised Pau is the minutes leader there. Still, 4 good players to cover 2 positions and you have decent balance in the minutes.
