Damn, Alabama has really jumped at 22nd. When I went to law school I was choosing between Alabama and Vanderbilt. At the time the choice was between Alabama at 46th and Vanderbilt at 17th. Even though I could have gone to Alabama for about a third of the price, I chose Vanderbilt because I wanted the most options I could get post graduation. Made sense at the time, but if I was choosing now, I think it would be Alabama all the way - 1/2 the price and only 5 spots difference in the rankings now.

I'd agree if you wanted to practice in AL or Mississippi. Otherwise I'd still go Vanderbilt if you could make the money work. The best thing for Alabama is that it has now reached the major regional school level, such that if you do well your options are pretty unlimited.
That's not true at a place like LSU or Ole Miss or even Tennessee. But it still isn't a national school like Vandy, and few clerkships or big firms are going to view them as within 5 spots of each other.
