I was there as well. Great show indeed. BB is very funny, and his humor is prety weird (good weird), and it plays well with a live audience. I really enjoyed the show, and thought the venue was pretty awesome as well. Hope he comes back again soon, and hope this material makes its way into a TV or DVD special.

yeah a few of those songs (except of course for the three old ones) were definitely legit album material. "panderin", "straight white male", the one about how dudes and chicks both want perfection in each other but claim they dont (don't know the name of it).

i read a post of his a while back that said his biggest three influences are carlin, tim minchin, and steve martin. if you know those three well enough you can see he's a pretty strong combo of the three. especially martin's goofiness on stage and michin's introspectiveness (probably not a word).

I'm guessing it was totally different from "what."?

i wouldn't consider it too different than "what" and i was on a BB thread here before, i was in the minority on liking "what".
"what" is an acquired taste but i think it gets better and better with more listens.

edit: however if you liked songs like "repeat stuff" and "men and women" and such you'd probably like some of his new stuff. if you didn't like "left brain, right brain" or "#deep" you may not like some of the new stuff.
i like songs like "art is dead" and from god's perpective" just as much, if not more than some of his more intentionally funny stuff.

As for "musical comedians," I am indifferent. If someone is funny, then I think they're funny. If they can use music in a good way to accomodate the humor (which both have to be good in their own right), I'm good with it. I'd say BB isn't so much a "musical comedian" as a comedian who uses music in his act, because his non-musical stuff is still pretty great as well. I do think he's pretty gifted musically though, and that he uses it well in his acts.
