When I start a new topic and return to the board, there's no new notifications

start a new topic
click return to board or click board name
a marker saying new doesn't appear beside my topic or other new posts that were made on the board

happens on my laptop, surface pro 3, and htc one m8. all using chrome. it's been happening for a couple weeks at least. seem to recall it starting about the time the number of threads per board was reduced for a short time.
