2015 NBA Mock Draft Update
Posted on 3/6/15 at 10:20 am

NBA Draft Room
Martin #28 1st round
Mickey - undrafted and not even in the 10 picks after the draft is over
NBA Draft Express
Martin #32 2nd round
Mickey - undrafted
Walter Football
Martin #26 1st round
Mickey undrafted
NBA Draft.net
Mickey #31 2nd round
Martin undrafted
MyNBAdraft.com 1st round only
No Martin or Mickey
CONCLUSION: Mickey would be insane to leave after this year unless he wants to go play D-league overseas. Martin can likely continue to shoot up the draft boards as his play has increased dramatically since the beginning of the year. I think we will get at least one back

Sadly, these kids don't always look at this decision with a clear head and logic.

Martin would be the easiest to replace with Ben Simmons. If we lose Mickey's defense that would be a tough hole to fill.

If Mickey came back, I think I would cum back too

The question for Martin is if he stays is there anything he can improve? Can he become a lottery pick?

Most definitely if he wants to be one of the the SF/Wing guys that the NBA has fallen in love with.

NBA Draft.net has Mickey going 31 and Martin undrafted

both of them need to work on their games.
According to the info OP posted Martin is 50/50 being taken high in the 2nd round by one of the worst teams in the league.
Dudes, please stay in school, come back and do the work and improve your games. Learn a foreign language and take accounting. Be ready when you do go out.

I agree that Simmons will be able to replace Martins contributions. Mickey returning is much more critical to this teams success next year. Hopefully Robinson can make a large leap and can provide some nice depth. Quarterman Blakeney Hornsby Simmons and Mickey would be an extremely dangerous lineup.

his post game
his jump shot
his ability to get to the rim off the dribble
his ability to finish at the rim when the dunk isnt there
his isolation defense (90% of whats played in the NBA)
unlike many, his game can grow. he is green. he is not limited like JOB or Mickey. He has perfect NBA measurables. He just needs time to get better at BASKETBALL

Martin can certainly become a lottery pick. He needs to work on his aggressiveness and Defense. No reason that with his size and athleticism he can't be lockdown defender/rebounder. If he adds that, teams will line up.
Mickey needs to add weight and show that he actually likes playing basketball. if he can get close to 245-250 and start playing each game like he cares, he could easily find himself drafted and on a roster. The lack of effort is just mind numbing though.

Martin can most definitely develop into a lotto pick. His mix of size, athleticism, handles, and strength is rare, but he has virtually no refinement to his game and his outside shot is spotty at best. If he comes back next year, loses about 5-10 pounds, improves his jumper, and shows out on a stacked LSU team that will be getting a TON of national attention, he can absolutey become a top 14 pick.
Mickey would be insane to leave. He still has a ton of work to do on a wide variety of things.

Martin has a lot of upside as a 6'10" SF....Mickey is pretty much maxed out as a 6'8" PF. He can't play the 3 due to his lack of consistent outside jumper, defense, and ball handling.
NBA draft is almost strictly based on potential, hence Martin being drafted while Mickey isn't. Mickey would have to prove in a camp that he belongs.

All of this. His athleticism is getting him by in college. He needs to stay to improve in all of these areas and become lottery after JR year.

All of this....especially the bold portion. One thing that impressed me about Tennessee is how they laid the ball high and soft off the glass when they attacked the rim.
The talent is absolutely there. It just needs a lot of refinement.

you're forgetting the one extra year of pay that Martin would lose if he came back. True, if he moves up 10 spots next year, he'll make about 1 million more over the first 3 years but, again, his career will be one year shorter if he stays.
But there's no guarantee of moving up 10 spots. If he can go in the first round, he should go.

Not even close. There is room for a 6'8" PF in basketball. Ask Paul Millsap. Hell ask Charles Barkley. You make up for the size by fighting harder and developing post moves that are near impossible to stop, along with a good mid-range shot. Mickey has to add weight to even have a shot. He also has to show that he has some fight in him. He won't be a 1st rounder, but he could go 2nd and make some noise in training camp if his game improves.
