Recommending brands of shoes is about as useless as recommending Makes of cars.
I can suggest a Ford, but whether or not I'm talking about a Mustang, F250, Focus or Escape makes the difference and is what matters when meeting your specific needs.
In summary, ignore and specific shoe recommendations made in this thread and go find what type of shoe you need, then forget the brand but try a few models (neutral, stability, etc) of differenr brands and see what one feels the best.
How to do a "foot test" yourself
I run in three different brands of shoes that are all different based on what/where I am running.
Brooks Launch (10mm drop) are my trainers
Asics Gel Lyte 33's (4 mm drop) are my tempo and race up to 13.1 shoes
Saucony A5 (o mm drop) are my speed/track/race shoe
