I almost bought motion control shoes as my first running shoes but decided not to because they were way to stiff. I'm tall and slender and feel I didn't need that. After doing research I bought a pair of Saucony Guides that have lightweight stability and haven't looked back

You just have to find what works for you. Go get fitted at a running store. That's the best advice. I'm a Brooks guy myself. All they make is running shoes and I've been in the Adriniline, Ghost and Launch and liked them all. New Balance makes good racing flats and minimalist shoes if that's your thing. Asics are good, but they don't seem to last that long IMO.
