He actually committed to LSU early in the process. Should probably be playing DE, he's stiff and not great in space.

Upon completion of his junior year, the acclaim for him here in Florida was off the charts. Not often do you see a junior be hailed as the best player in the state - but that was the case for Daub. The two main guys here that follow Florida prep recruiting just couldn't say enough positive things about him.

What happened between then and his senior year? I don't have a clue - but it was clear his play on the field had regressed a great deal. And as to what has happened since he went to FSU, I also have no clue. Drugs? Injury? Weight? Desire? Academic issues? No idea.

But somewhere under all that "baggage" lies an amazingly talented football player.

He's the perfect reason you don't fall in love with 5 stars early on.

I think he was the #1 LB when he committed to LSU.
