That's nothing. I know people who have dropped THOUSANDS on treatments for old dogs.
I took one of my hunting dogs in once for a skin infection related to some bacteria out of the dirt. Vet told me "it will be $1,500 for the meds" and I immediately said "well he is going to die then."
Went home and Googled the disease. Damn human antibiotics will cure it. Got my doc to write a scrip and got the meds for $65 at the pharmacy. Done and done.

Oh, i know the shite gets expensive. We had to pay for knee surgery last February, the dog was climbing down the steps and slipped on the ice and tore the patella muscle off the bone. was about $1500 for everything.
