Take a look at CJJs career conference record as a head coach. Hovers around .500 with over a 10 season sample size.

his first 3-4 seasons at UNT really kill his career record. Once he got the ball rolling, his winning percentage was much higher. He honestly did a pretty awesome job considering UNT only had one NCAA tournament appearance ever before he arrived

Not really.

His first three years at UNT he was:
8-7
2-13
8-8

After that he only finished more than 2 games over .500 in conf play twice. He never won an out-right conference title and only won 1 division title in 11 years. Yes, he did a decent job improving the UNT program, but it's not like they became a dominant force in the Sun Belt.

The bottom line is that he would have never been considered for the LSU job but for the fact that he played and coached under Dale Brown. I don't recall many other SEC and/or Big 12 teams ever really beating down Jones' door. This is the ultimate "it's not what you know but who you know hire"

I really, really want him to succeed at LSU. However, right now you can't deny that his on-court results are trending similar to his time at UNT
