Despite a 15-point home loss to Tennessee on Wednesday night, the LSU basketball team was a No. 10 seed on two projected NCAA tournament brackets Thursday morning.

LSU remained a No. 10 seed in the Midwest regional in the eyes of ESPN.com bracketologist Joe Lunardi, who now has the Tigers playing seventh-seeded San Diego State in Omaha, Nebraska.

CBSSports.com bracket expert Jerry Palm dropped LSU from an eight seed to 10th on his bracket. Palm has the Tigers facing No. 7 seed St. John’s in the West regional in Louisville, Kentucky.

As expected, however, LSU dropped out of the top 50 in the RPI rankings of both Websites.

LSU is now 54th on ESPN.com and 55thon CBSSports.com’s list. The Tigers have an 11-6 record against teams in the ESPN.com top 100.

Still in, for now. Could get screwed by a rash of mid-major regular season champs getting bounced in their conference tournie and gobbling up the at large bids.

However, should be safe for now. No margin for error. Would be great to win on Saturday, if not, absolutely must have a solid showing in Nashvegas.

The lower the team drops the more chance that a MID Major can come in and bump them out.
