I'm almost finished with season 2 on HBO Go. Some things I'm noticing now that never struck me as I was initially watching it in the late 90's (probably because the content was so shocking at the time)....... This show feels like I'm watching a prison version of "You Can't Do That On Television" that used to come on Nickelodeon. So many quick one-liners or 5 second situations that almost feel irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. These things NEVER occurred to me in 1997.

Anyway, it's awesome for nostalgic reasons, but nowhere near as great of a show as I remember. The Wire and Sopranos still hold up very well. Oz feels so lazy and gimmicky now.

Thoughts?

Agreed. I rewatched the Wire a couple of months back and now rewatching Sopranos, they both hold up today. The Sopranos more so as a comedy then anything else. Of all the series I've watched on the road the last several years, Oz is the worst. Its horrible in every way (acting, writing, direction). Rick Fox turned in the best acting job of the cast

It was a pretty good show the first couple of seasons but jumped the shark after Beecher killed the Nazi CO with his fingernails.

I liked it when it originally aired but even then there were tons of eye roll moments.

I always say, about the 47th time someone is wandering around unsupervised in some dark hallway looking to rape or kill someone, it gets old.

Didn't they seal some guy off in a wall? I think the later seasons they just kept trying to one up themselves with crazier crap.
