This is true, but I didn't know if it was for others haha..
Check this, I was casting from my sister's iphone to our chromecast.. Well she left to go to the store with her phone.. and the cast never once stopped. LOL.. maybe it just needs to first be initiated.. then nothing else matters.. Pretty wild stuff..

I completely powered down my IPhone to test my chromecast and it kept on working. So the IPhone is only needed to initialize the streaming.
