Well, he deserves some shielding from criticism. Our offense was fricking putrid and without that defense we may have not have won an SEC game last year.

And when our offense was best in school history his defense was still good for two blown games in the closing minutes.

What about 2013 when the offense was humming with Mettenberger, Landry, OBJ, Hill, etc. How much pressure was his defense under then? Fact of the matter is we ended up losing the west because of defense.

That defense was also stacked with talent that Raymond, Haley, Wilson, and Miles were largely responsible for getting. Chavis is one of the laziest recruiters in college football and it's very damn hard to win big games without elite talent.

It's fair to assume to other defensive coordinators would have had similar success last season.
