The Trinity Killer season is one of the best seasons of any TV serious. Better than any Breaking Bad seasons that's for damn sure.

It really is ashame it dropped off that hard. Has anybody read the books?

I agree with everyone in this thread, the shows were great , until they weren't. And then they were terrible.

For the most part, the books are fun but different. The first book and the first season basically tell the same story (the Ice Truck Killer) but then the books and show really have no connection; the stories are vastly different.

There's one book though that is as bad or worse than the final season of the show.

Book spoiler ahead ... if you care

I forget the name of the book, maybe Dexter in the Dark, but it's revealed in that book that Dexter's Dark Passenger is not just his sociopathic nature, but an actual demon that is possessing him.

In that book, Dexter's demon meets a demon possessing another character which is apparently a bigger bad arse than Dexter's demon. So Dexter's demon runs away and no longer possesses Dexter.

Now, without his Dark Passenger Demon to help him, Dexter is pretty pathetic and is on the verge of getting killed by the really bad arse demon dude until he (Dexter) is saved by Cody ... who is also apparently possessed by a demon. Then Dexter's demon comes back.

I hated that book so much that I stopped reading the series for a long time. I've since gone back and read a few more and just try to forget that shitty book even exists.
