From my layman understanding, we can take early enroll es but they are not ours till the NSD.

It's already the case that they are not ours until they enroll or sign an LOI. They can't be recruited by other schools if they are already on our campus without losing 1 year of eligibility. Once an LOI or enrollment occurs, they can sign the FAA.

What they cannot do is sign FAA's in advance of signing a LOI giving them unlimited contact.

Essentially a recruit can still commit, sign the LOI and receive a scholarship in a normal fashion, but they can't bind themselves to LSU as they can to other schools for the next 2 years. I believe in some small way LSU gains the leverage.

Another point, I heard today on the radio from Mike Detillier that the school would not appeal the ruling. They relish being the poster child of this idiotic rule to show how dumb it is in hopes of it getting changed.

I believe in many cases schools believes this is a windfall for an undecided kid to lock up spots all across the U.S. if so desired without any assurances from the university while taking all the risks.

IMO, the recruit should at least have to sign the LOI by December if they sign the FAA early. And, the student should not be able to enroll early if they sign the FAA in advance.
