Nah the play would have been to sit down with Shirin before tribal and tell her he was going to give her the idol but not play it. Give it to her before tribal and have her wearing it around her neck when they get to tribal. That play was all about them believing he would actually play the idol and without giving it to Shirin not enough of them fell for it.

He got them to vote Dan so that worked, but he could have gotten one of them out and still had Shirin and his idol if they actually believed Shirin was playing an idol.

If he has given it to Shirin and played it, they would still be down in the numbers and he would just get voted out next time if he doesn't win immunity. By not playing it, he's guaranteed himself at least three more days even if he doesn't win immunity, plus he's caused a divide in the other alliance.

That plan takes the risk of Shirin actually playing the idol. Once you put it in her hands, you are no longer in control. I thought his play was a great move, and Shirin jumped up a few notches in my book when she commended him for not playing it in her final interview.

I am looking forward to Dan acting like a baby tonight. The way he annunciates every word is really getting old. It'll be interesting to see if he still does it when he doesn't have all that confidence.
