Wow ok. I guess that qualifies as a glaring omission then

I generally regard kirk russell as a god awful actor. I did like Escape and Big Trouble though

I have him better than "god awful" but I know what you mean. Carpenter did get the best out of him.

And arguably their best work was The Thing- although I enjoy these two better.

Obviously, Carpenter did They Live without Russell - Kurt was unavailable, which led to the most awesome casting decision of the decade - Rowdy Roddy Piper in the lead of that film.

This further devalues Russell, as Piper wasn't an actor at all (other than wrestling which is more stagecraft and performance art than true, hit your marks, know your cues and your lines acting).
