I will say that Martin can make his own shot better.
If we had to have only one next year, I think I'd rather Martin to be honest. Maybe it's just because Mickey is in a slump. IDK.

Id think we would rather Mickey. Keep in down low as a post presence. Replacing Martin with Simmons shouldnt be that difficult of a transition. Simmons is closer to martin than mickey but has a wider skill set. Without Mickey we arent guaranteed a true proven Center or Power forward.
I think Simmons can replace the inside/out game Martin has developed moreso than we can hope for anyone we have coming close to replacing Mickey.

Agree all the way. The defense would drop off a tad without Mickey but there's a good possibility that the two 7 footers will improve enough to play solid defense and rebound down low. The offensive possibilities with Simmons and Martin on the floor together are through the roof, especially when you think about all of the great 3-point shooters that will surround them. LSU will start the season top ten if either JM returns. Top 20 without either and top 8 if both come back. Hopefully JJ gets a big-time schedule lined up for that group.
