Supposed to have been raining pretty much non-stop since Friday evening in BR area. Not to mention the big freeze predicted for this am.

But what you don't realize is that they don't REALLY have the day off. They are all at home doing lesson plans or grading papers. Only 90 days till summer!!!!

Was actually forecast to rain for the last three days. Have received a trace over 72 hrs. What a joke. Must be nice to be wrong so often and not be held accountable and still keep ones job.

weathermen continuously fail to have a reliable model for 12-24 hours out, yet as a society we rly on the weather models for "climate change/ global warming" of greater than 10 years out

Not one self-respecting meteorologist forecast a freeze for Baton Rouge this morning. In reality, the NWS fricking NAILED the freeze line two days in advance. It was very impressive.

The newscasters should be arrested and the pooch taken to a new home, and probably counseling

No they didn't. School officials did.

Like someone said earlier, National Weather Service was dead on where the freeze line was at least 24hrs in advance.

I am a meteorologist. I agree. The national weather service has dropped the ball a lot lately.

Too much emphasis on forecast models.

Yeah I was expecting a nice rainy weekend and was really disappointed by all the sunshine.

They use global forecast models that are pretty accurate 2-3 days out in a macro sense, but they are global, and not very fine grained. They can nail the forecast and still be off by a few hours and 50 or more miles. That makes the difference between a particular location getting the predicted bad weather or not.
