Just depends on what kind of hunting/fishing you're into like what the others have said.
If I were you I would buy a house on either the Guadalupe or Comal River and then you can be two hours west from town shooting whitetails, hogs, turkeys, exotics, and quail. Those rivers are cool in the summer and you can flyfish the Guad for rainbows in the winter and spring.
Get you a fishing a camp in Sargent, Palacios, or POC if you like saltwater and have your weekend trips. There is also Canyon Lake and Lake Austin for bass close by.
