My contention is that if AD's re-injury was severe enough (3-4 weeks+) maybe they shut him down through the season to minimize risk of re-injury in meaningless games. Yeah I know experience goes a long way but is it worth an offseason shoulder arthroscopy or rotator cuff repair?

I understand not wanting to put too much personal info out there, but that changes what we have to talk about. So what are the long term effects of shoulder surgery? I realize not having to have it is better, but I don't recall many NBA players effected long term by shoulder injuries.

Chronic dislocations for one with increased laxity of the shoulder tendons/ligaments after repeated injury. I don't think a 21 year old physical phenom will have any issue rebounding from this shoulder injury. I just am voicing concern bringing him back at 80 or 90% versus bringing him back at 100% next season.
